Mammography Initial Training | Online

Several years ago as travel became more expensive, it became obvious that we should place our initial training online. It was a tremendous undertaking and very expensive. But, now it is available.

The online training program is the video capture of our actual program in the classroom. It is taught by Susan Sprinkle Vincent, R.T. (R)(M) and faculty.

The program is 28 hours in length. You must gain permission for enrolling prior to purchasing the program. The initial training online requirements are the same as for our classroom version.

This online program does allow you to do the program at your own pace and when you have time. The analog portion is not included in the online initial training program and must be purchased separately.

You may find your own clinical sponsor for your 25 supervised procedures and the supervisor or proctor does have to submit the required documentation for credentials, experience and compliant CE.

AHEC can place you with one of our clinical partners to complete your 25 supervised exams. This will be determined as you enroll in your online program. The program should be completed as a whole and not piecemeal. Mammography is a challenging profession and you should learn as much as you can and retain that information.

The 40 hour MQSA requirement is met by the 28 hours of video training and 16 hours of training to perform 25 supervised clinical procedures making a total of 44 clock hours. AHEC's mammography program has always exceeded the minimum clock hours required to qualify. AHEC's philosophy for the program is to include all "must know" information in the curriculum. The "nice to know" will come through the requirement for annual continuing education.
